Whether you are aging off your parent's plan and need coverage before you can enroll at a new job or you are retiring early and need temporary coverage while you await Medicare eligibility, short-term health coverage can help cover you for those in-between moments.
These plans have 90-day terms with the option for a one-month extension.

Similar to Health Share Plans and Indemnity Plans, Short-Term Plans are also designed to help bridge the gap when you find yourself between health plans.

What is Short-Term health coverage?

Short-Term health plans provide temporary coverage for basic medical services and emergencies when you need coverage for only a few months at a time. These plans are intentionally temporary as they typically do not meet Affordable Care Act coverage requirements for long-term plans. However, they can provide peace of mind and help you avoid going without coverage when you find yourself between health plans.

Why enroll in Short-Term coverage?

When you know you will be between coverage plans for a few months but want to avoid the risk of being without coverage in that time, a short-term health plan can be a great option. These plans can also be a great fit when you need coverage quickly or outside of ACA annual enrollment. Short-term plans can also be a more affordable option when you want to avoid the higher costs of an ACA plan.

Is Short-Term health coverage right for me?

A Short-Term health plan can be a great fit if you are:

-  Transitioning between jobs and need coverage while you wait to start a new role where you will be eligible to enroll in a plan though you new employer.
-  A part-time or seasonal worker and do not qualify for coverage on your employer's plans.
-  A recent graduate and have aged off your parent's health plan.
-  Retiring early and need coverage prior to Medicare eligibility.
-  Waiting for ACA open enrollment but need coverage while you wait to enroll or for your plan to become effective.
-  Young and healthy and need coverage in case of emergency.

Short-term plans generally do not cover pre-existing conditions, so take that into consideration when deciding if this type of plan is right for you.
